Overview of the SCAN-IR cabin and its sensors

A multimodal scan

Five complementary sensor families capture body shape, skin surface, temperature and vital-sign-related signals in a single session.

3D scanning

20 infrared / ToF sensors

Five sensors per column across the four corners of the cabin measure distances, volumes, silhouette, proportions and morphological changes.

3D photogrammetry

3 high-resolution RGB cameras

Positioned around the user for 3D reconstruction and observation of the skin surface: texture, redness, imperfections, pigmentation and moles.

Thermal mapping

2 thermal cameras

Whole-body thermal mapping and monitoring of superficial temperature changes over time.

Vital signs

2 mmWave radars

Contactless analysis of presence, movement, posture and respiratory micro-movements.

Bioimpedance

Floor-based body measurement system

Weight, load distribution and balance; planned evolution toward body-composition analysis using hand/foot contacts.

Planned evolution

Ultrasound module

Non-invasive deeper imaging for monitoring organ-level trends — as a complement to the 27 surface sensing modules.

27 main sensing modules — 20 IR/ToF + 3 RGB cameras + 2 thermal cameras + 2 mmWave radars

How a session works

A complete session takes less than 45 seconds. Measurements are taken before the shower starts, with the water off.

1
0-5 s

Entry & positioning

The user enters the cabin and stands in the scan area.

2
5-15 s

3D, IR & mmWave scan

First scan pass combining depth, thermal and radar data.

3
15-25 s

Three-camera photogrammetry

Precise geometric reconstruction from three viewing angles.

4
25-35 s

Radar & physiological signals

mmWave radar acquisition and consolidation of thermal data.

5
35-45 s

Weight & bioimpedance measurements

Weight, balance and body composition through floor electrodes.

Total duration: 45 seconds maximum

Building the digital twin

Raw data from every sensor are fused by AI to reconstruct a complete 3D model that can be tracked over time.

Multi-sensor data

Raw acquisition of all streams: 3D, thermal, radar and floor measurements.

→

AI fusion

Reconstruction and alignment of the different sources into one coherent model.

→

3D digital twin

A complete, anonymized model representing your body at that moment.

→

History & evolution

Each new scan enriches the long-term monitoring history.

Physiological trends monitored over time

Radar, thermal imaging and vision already monitor several surface indicators; the planned ultrasound module would extend this non-invasive monitoring to deeper structures — always as a complement to medical examination, never a substitute.

Heart rate

Respiratory rate

Skin temperature

Posture & symmetry

Skin changes

Balance & pressure distribution

These readings track trends over time; they do not constitute a medical diagnosis and should always be interpreted with a healthcare professional.
